About

A Curated Haven of Timeless Elegance

There are houses, and then there are homes that hum with a certain ineffable charm - places where every object tells a story, where light plays across patinated surfaces, and where the past is not simply preserved, but reimagined. Lumière Lodge is one such place.

Tucked away in a quiet pocket of Old Hobart Town, this classic Victorian cottage has been thoughtfully restored and meticulously styled to celebrate the romance of a bygone era. Beneath its high ceilings and beside its antique windows, guests will find a home brimming with colour, character, and a carefully curated symphony of textures - a testament to a deep appreciation for design, craftsmanship, and the art of living well.

The vision behind Lumière Lodge extends beyond aesthetics; it is, at heart, a reflection of its custodians, Kerran and Samuel - partners in life and in the quiet art of creating atmosphere. While Kerran, a devoted lover of styling, colour, and form, curates each room with a whimsical yet refined touch, Samuel draws inspiration from Tasmania’s rugged landscape - often returning from bush walks with arms full of foraged kindling and a mind attuned to the shifting palette of the seasons.

Together, they wander windswept coastlines and forested trails, observing how nature’s hues - the ochres, deep greens, soft greys, and muted florals - might find their way indoors. It is this shared reverence for place, both wild and domestic, that breathes life into Lumière Lodge. The home becomes not merely a setting, but a living canvas where the textures of Tasmania are interwoven with the elegance of a bygone era.

Here, every detail evokes a sense of place and pause - from the flicker of beeswax candles against timeworn oil paintings to the gentle perfume of Le Labo lingering in the air. Antique chandeliers cast their glow over convivial dinners, while mornings arrive softly through stained glass and linen-draped windows. Each corner offers an invitation to linger - to notice, to feel, to be.

Lumière Lodge is more than a showcase of design; it is a sanctuary for those who appreciate the quiet allure of candlelit evenings, the artistry of a well-set table, and the subtle joy of spaces that speak without words. It offers not just accommodation, but an experience - one where time slows, stories unfold, and memories are crafted in the soft glow of history, nature, and thoughtful hospitality.

In the Press & Among Kindred Creatives

Since opening its doors, Lumière Lodge has quietly garnered the attention of esteemed publications and iconic brands alike - celebrated for its evocative blend of old-world charm, thoughtful design, and immersive atmosphere. The lodge has been featured in the pages of The Australian, The Age, Women’s Weekly (2025), Country Style Magazine (Christmas Special, 2019), and Homes & Gardens UK (Christmas Special, 2019), as well as gracing the front cover of Reclaim Magazine (September 2020).

In 2022, Lumière Lodge was honoured as one of The Australian’s Hot 50 Places to Stay — a testament to its unique ability to offer more than just accommodation, but an experience steeped in character and quiet luxury.

This distinctive setting has also inspired collaborations with revered brands, serving as the backdrop for beautifully crafted campaigns by The Society Inc. by Sibella Court, Blundstone, Waverley Mills, and artisanal food styling and photography projects.
